Larry Dean Bauerle Sr., 80, Vassar: Jan. 21, 1940 – Jan. 15, 2021

VASSAR, Kan. – Larry Dean Bauerle Sr., 80, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at the Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born Jan. 21, 1940, in Holton, Kan., the adopted son of Roy and Dolly (Murphy) Bauerle.

Larry had lived in Topeka and had been coming to Pomona Lake since 1985. In 1994 he moved to Vassar, Kan., where he has lived since.

Larry served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He had worked a truck driver and had worked for Rosen’s, near Pomona Lake. He was a member of the Appanoose Baptist Church, north of Pomona, Kan.

On Nov. 29, 1958, Larry was united in marriage to Norma Jean Anderson, in Holton. To this union two sons were born, David and Larry Jr.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dolly; his son, David Bauerle, Dec. 17, 2019; two brothers, Dareld and Harold Lacey; and two sisters, Daisy Lacey and Marilyn Haire.

Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Bauerle; son, Larry Bauerle Jr. and wife, Lori, of Hutchinson, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Tammy Bauerle, Topeka; and three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry’s family will hold a memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Appanoose Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Inurnment will be in Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
