Lois Arlene Rice, 88, Wichita: Feb. 16, 1932 – Jan. 23, 2021

WICHITA, Kan. – Lois Arlene Rice, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 23, 2021, at her home in Wichita, Kan. She was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Wakarusa, Kan., the daughter of Charles Albert and Estella Jane Tevis.

On Sept. 11, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Orville J. Rice, and they were happily married for 64 years until his death on July 29, 2012. To this union four children were born, Larry Rice, Shirley Randall, Alan Scott Rice (deceased), and Russell Rice.

Lois lived in Melvern, Kan., until she was 37 years old, and then moved to Topeka, Kan., until she retired. After retirement she and her husband, Orville, spent winters in either South Texas or Southern California. Lois was a beautician for most of her life and was the owner-operator of a salon in Melvern and Red Velvet Beauty Boutique, in Topeka.

Lois is survived by three of her children, Larry Rice (Leta), La Feria, Texas, Shirley Randall (Dan), Burrton, Kan., and Russell Rice (Sandra), Redlands, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Melissa Russell (Travis), Brant Rice (DeLynn), Melanie Little (Eric), Christopher Greeve (Kelly), Amber Roberts-Bye (Marty), Toby Rice, Tanner Rice, and two bonus grandchildren, Danielle Randall and Michelle McAllister (Ray); and 13 great grandchildren and eight bonus great grandchildren.

Due to COVID concerns, funeral services for Lois will be for immediate family only, but will be broadcast at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 on Facebook Live at Facebook.com/C3Hays, for all to join. The invitation will be posted on Facebook, but anyone who wants details emailed to them is asked to email rrice@riverstones.org.

Memorial contributions may be made to Celebration Community Church in Hays, Kan., where Lois’ grandson is pastor. Condolences can be left at feltnerfuneralhome.com.
