OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Marilyn Renee Giesy, 81, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. She was born July 1, 1939, in Emporia, Kan, the daughter of Jules and Leea (Corley) Martin.
Marilyn grew up in Burlington, Kan., where she graduated from Burlington High School in 1957. She had lived in Osage City since 1968.
Marilyn was a homemaker. She was a member of the Osage City United Methodist Church. She had been involved in many organizations and groups throughout the years.
On June 23, 1957, Marilyn was united in marriage to Jerry Giesy, in Burlington. To this union three children were born, Steve, Brian and Renee’.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee’, on March 12, 2009; her parents, Jules and Leea; and her sister, Julene Lowny.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jerry, of 63 years; two sons, Steve (Michelle) Giesy and Brian (Marilyn) Giesy, all of Osage City; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, at Osage City United Methodist Church. Seating will be done with social distancing in mind. Burial will be in the Osage City Cemetery. Marilyn will lie in state at the church 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, and the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m.
