Delores Kay Piland, 79, Emporia: Nov. 7, 1941 – April 15, 2021

EMPORIA, Kan.  – Delores Kay Piland, 79, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Holiday Resort, Emporia, Kan. She was born Nov. 7, 1941, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Robert and Gladys Hooper Duesler.

Delores earned her nursing degree from the Newman Hospital Nursing Program, in Emporia. She had worked as a registered nurse for more than 50 years, retiring after working for the Shawnee County Health Department. Delores was an avid reader and a gardener. She enjoyed thrifting at thrift shops, and her family was the most important thing to her.

On May 13, 1977, Delores was united in marriage to John Piland II, in Florences, Kan.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, John, on Dec. 4, 2013; her parents, Robert and Gladys; and all but one of her siblings.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Angie Reetz, of Westchester, Ill  three sons, Damon Krom, Emporia, Brady Krom, Emporia, and John Piland III, Lyndon;  sister, Sandy Hileman, Emporia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
