Center plans potluck dinner to celebrate springtime

The Osage County Senior Center library some new books – some are free and some will need to be checked out. We also have puzzles that can be checked out and there is always one being worked on at the big table.

The Thrift Sale was once again a big success thanks to everyone that donated and came by and those that bought.

The senior center first potluck dinner in over a year will be May 5, 2021. Jody Jackson and Friends will be here at 11 a.m. playing music, and we will eat at 12 noon. Hope to see you all.

We have received a donation of scrap booking supplies and are looking to offer a class. If anyone is interested in this class, call the senior center at 785-528-1170, and let us know. Anyone with suggestions on other activities or crafts, please let us know. Most likely there is someone else that would like to try it, also.

Upcoming:

  • Monday-Friday: 9-10 a.m., exercise class with Dee Davenport; 8 a.m.-12 p.m. sewing; 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m., pitch, bring a snack if you like.
  • Tuesday: 9 a.m., ceramics, call before coming to verify times; 12:30-3:30 p.m., Mexican Train, usually played every day.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m.-12 p.m., sewing.
  • Thursday: 9-11 a.m., painting.
  • Friday: 10-11:30 a.m., bingo, bring a $5 gift bag, everyone wins.

Commodities distribution

Commodities distribution continues at the center the second Wednesday of every month. Income limitations have increased. Recipients must be 60 years old to qualify, with an income of $1,396 or less for one person or $1,888 or less for two persons in the same household. Income verification and a one-month waiting period is required to sign up. Anyone in Osage County is eligible if they meet the above qualifications. Contact the senior center for help with determining if you qualify. Anyone unable to come to Osage City and pick commodities is asked to let the senior center staff know. We would like to know if there are people that qualify, but that can’t get here.

For more information, contact Tammy Fager, Osage County Senior Center director, at 785-528-1170, or 604 Market St., Osage City, Kan.
