Marla Tucker-Lavin, 58, Topeka: Sept. 8, 1962 – April 20, 2021

TOPEKA, Kan. – Marla Tucker-Lavin, 58, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at her home in Topeka, Kan. She was born on Sept. 8, 1962, in Lyndon, Kan., the daughter of Marlin and Irene (Ogle) Tucker.

Marla grew up in Lyndon, where she graduated from Lyndon High School in 1980. She had lived in Topeka for the last 25 years.

Marla received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1984, and she was the director of human resources for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. She was a member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church. Marla always enjoyed her Yorkies and her family.

On Oct. 16, 1993, Marla was united in marriage to Fred Lavin, in Lyndon. To this union, a daughter was born, Kelsey Sarah Lavin.

Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Irene.

Marla is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; daughter, Kelsey Lavin, Topeka; brother, Douglas Tucker and wife, Cheryl, Topeka; nephew, Taran Tucker; and other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
