Alignment project underway on state Highway 31 in Osage County

Construction not expected to delay drivers during first phase

The Kansas Department of Transportation announced today the new alignment project for state Highway 31 has begun in Osage County. The project will reconstruct K-31 from the east city limits of Osage City, Kan., to the K-31/U.S. Highway 75 junction.

KDOT reported this phase of the project will consist of the new alignment and will not affect drivers traveling on K-31. When the next phase begins later this year, more information regarding traffic control will be released.

For the first phase of the project, work will take place Monday through Friday, and Saturday if needed, during daytime hours. The project is expected to be completed by December 2022, weather permitting.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction Inc., of Topeka, Kan., is the contractor on the $15 million project.
