Sheriff’s Reports: Tuesday traffic stops result in two arrests

Two Ottawa, Kan., women were arrested on drug charges in two separate traffic stops yesterday in Osage County, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office has reported.

In a press release, the sheriff’s office reported that Melissa L. Stage, 36, of Ottawa, was arrested after a traffic stop at 11:49 a.m. June 1, 2021, at milepost 159 on Interstate 35. During the stop, Osage County K-9 was used and narcotics were located. Stage, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody and booked into the Osage County Jail on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A second release reported that at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday, an Osage County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle at Fifth and Pine in Quenemo, Kan., for a traffic violation. During the stop narcotics were located, and the driver of the vehicle, Jackalynn N. Kirk, 19, of Ottawa, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
