Arlon Leroy Green, 75, Osage City: May 27, 1946 – June 16, 2021

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Arlon Leroy Green, 75, of Osage City, Kan., departed this life on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. Arlon was born May 27, 1946, in Emporia, Kan., the son of Ovid Charles “O.C.” and Pearl Lucille (Groff) Green.

Arlong grew up in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School in 1964.

Arlon attended Emporia State University, and while he was at Emporia State he got drafted by the United States Army to go to Vietnam on Nov. 3, 1969. Arlon was a pilot of CH-47 Chinooks and served in the 15th Aviation Company, 1st Cavalry Division. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1974.

On Sept. 16, 1968, Arlon was united in marriage to Pamela Myrle Anderson, in Nowata, Okla. They shared more than 34 years of marriage before Pamela passed away Oct. 11, 2002. To this union they shared two sons, Andrew and Joseph Green.

After Arlon returned home from Vietnam, Pamela and he lived a short time in Killeen, Texas. They moved back to Osage City, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Arlon spent most of his working life farming and ranching, which he loved to do.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pamela; an infant sister, Bernice Green; and a granddaughter.

Arlon is survived by his two sons, Andrew Green (Ann), of Elkhart, Ind., and Joseph Green (Carrie), Osage City; sister, Janice Craig (Dennis), Topeka; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon.
