TOPEKA, Kan. – Alan Dean Burkdoll, 60, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Melvern, Kan., departed this life Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born July 1, 1961, in Topeka, the son of Dean Lee and Patricia Ann (Rose) Burkdoll.
Alan grew up in the Melvern and Lyndon, Kan., area, and graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1979. He has lived in Topeka since 1996.
On Sept. 14, 1990, Alan was united in marriage to Dana L. Markley, in Osage City, Kan. They later divorced. To this union they shared two daughters, Andrea Lea and Brooke Ann.
Alan spent most of his life as an independent over-the-road truck driver and was currently driving for MNT Transportation, Topeka. Alan worked hard and took much pride in driving millions of miles across the lower 48 states. When Alan wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family, friends and his daughters, especially his granddaughter, Paisley.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Lee and Pat; and brother, Terry Burkdoll, on Dec. 17, 2004.
Alan is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Lea Anderson, Topeka, and Brooke Ann Burkdoll, Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Steve Burkdoll (Beverly), and Dave Burkdoll (Peggy), all of Melvern; sister, LeeAnn Samsel (Robert), Lyndon; granddaughter, Paisley Rae Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon. The family will greet friends 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon, and will proceed to the cemetery following.
