POMONA, Kan. – Donald Jack Ferrell, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at Advent Health, Ottawa, Kan. He was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Almartha, Mo., the son of Ralph and Eulah (Mefford) Ferrell.
Jack had lived in Pomona, Kan., since 2002 and had lived in Kansas City, Mo., before that.
Jack had been a truck driver for many years, and also was a dispatcher for Cetco Inc. until his retirement. He had worked at The Gun Guys, Ottawa, as an antique gun appraiser. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 and was discharged as an E-4. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church, the 52 Plus Joker Club, and was a Civil War buff.
On June 26, 1964, Jack was united in marriage to Sharon Bohrn, in Bethel, Kan. To this union three children were born, Christy, Marty and Tammy.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Marty Ferrell, on Oct. 15, 2020; his parents, Ralph and Eulah; and his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Dean and Cleo Myers.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 57 years; two daughters, Christy Shehan (Mike Clune), Ottawa, and Tammy (Jim) Green, Pomona; daughter-in-law, Angela Ferrell, Ottawa; two brothers, Bernal (Carol) Ferrell, Independence, Mo., and George (Diane) Ferrell, Loveland, Colo.; sister, Hope (Rick) Cantrell, Fordland, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Mt. Pleasant Community Church, 26075 S. Berryton Rd., Lyndon, Kan. Burial with military honors will be in the Vassar Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
