Amber Alert: Child abducted in Chanute

Update: At 4:45 p.m., KBI and local law enforcement confirmed Jacob Senkbeil is in custody and Nina R. Senkbeil was located safely. Law enforcement conducted a manhunt, and with information provided by the residents of Fall River located the child safely and arrested the suspect.


Update: The vehicle the black Jeep Cherokee 852-FGX was located unoccupied in Fall River, Greenwood County, and Nina and Jacob Senkbeil are still reported as missing at 4:04 p.m.


An Amber Alert has been issued at 3:34 p.m. Aug. 11, 2021, in regard to the reported abduction of Nina R. Senkbeil, 6, in Chanute, Kan. The Chanute Police Department called for the alert, reporting that at around 10:30 a.m. today, Nina was taken by her father, Jacob Senkbeil, 32, from Santa Fe Park in Chanute. Nina was with her father at a supervised visitation when they disappeared in an unknown direction.

At 12:15 p.m., Jacob and Nina were seen at 17515 Oak Wood Lane, Fall River, Kan., where the father made comments to a witness that made law enforcement believe the child is in imminent danger. The suspect left with the child in an unknown direction in a black 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Kansas license plate 852FGX.

Nina is described as four feet tall, 75 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white Tweetie bird shirt with pink design, blue and white Nike shorts, and pink and black Nike shoes. Jacob Senkbeil is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 135 lbs., brown hair and blue eyes, wearing green shirt, blue jeans, and blue and orange ball cap.

Anyone who has seen the subjects or vehicle, or has other information about this case is asked to call 911 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-KS-CRIME.
