OVERBROOK, Kan. – Elizabeth “Betty” L. Rowe Fedrizzi Cooper, 96, passed away Aug. 27, 2021. She was born June 2, 1925, in Scranton, Kan., to William W. Rowe and Melissa M. Jolly.
Betty graduated from Scranton High School in 1943. She attended nursing school at Christ Hospital (currently known as Stormont Vail), graduating in August 1946; she received her Colorado nursing license in 1947. Betty took a position as a public health nurse on the Ute Native American Reservation in Durango, Colo. She provided health services to multiple Native American populations throughout the San Juan Basin area for more than 32 years and received numerous commendations for her work. Betty retired as a nurse in 1982 and spent her time volunteering with hospice and being a family care giver.
She was married to and widowed by Alcide Fedrizzi and Charles Cooper.
Betty was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, attending in Durango and Scranton. The last decade of her life she lived at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and brother, William R. Rowe.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Darla Rowe; nephews, William A. Rowe (Laura) and Marc S. Rowe (Pam); uncle, Jim Jolly (Martha); and many great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Scranton Cemetery, South Lewelling Road and West 165th Street, Scranton.
