Saturday: Melvern invites all to celebrate fall

Fall is here and Melvern is celebrating this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, with a community festival. Everyone is invited to come for garage sales, visit the park and its decorated hay bales, compete in the cornhole tournament, or decorate a pumpkin (age requirements apply). Also available will be a food court featuring local favorites, along with vendors invited to set up in Melvern City Park. See the schedule below:

7 a.m.Zion Youth Group biscuits and gravy, until food runs out. Outside of the MdCV high school commons area on the north side. Fundraiser to help the youth group attend the National Youth Convention in summer 2022. $5 for two biscuits and gravy.

8 a.m.-3 p.m. – Bale Trail – Decorate the park. Bring your own bale of hay to Melvern City Park and give it a fall look or spooky Halloween look! Decorated bales must be family friendly, and will need to be removed from the park by 5 p.m. Oct. 24. For more information, contact Lisa Litch at 785-549-3676.

8:30 a.m. – 5k Trick or Trot registration.

9 a.m. – Trick or Trot begins. Sponsored by the MdCVJH Student Council. Contact Lisa Reeser for more information, lreeser@usd456.org, $15 entry fee. Trick or Trot rain or shine!

8 a.m. – Citywide garage sales. To list your sale on the map, contact Tamara Massey at Melvern City Hall, 785-549-3447; $10 donation. Garage sales will be held rain or shine. Maps will be available around town Oct. 23.

10 a.m. – Cornhole Tournament – $30 per team. At Melvern City Park. Sponsored by MdCV senior class. To participate, contact Carrie Lingenfelter at clingenfelter@usd456.org.

2-4 p.m. – Pumpkin decorating for pre-school to fifth-graders. At the shelter house at the park. Sponsored by Melvern Methodist Church; pumpkins provided by Doug and Roxie Bush.

4-5 p.m. – Trunk or Treat – outside of Melvern Community Center. Contact Lisa Reeser if interested in having a Trunk or Treat. Trunks must be set up by 3:30 p.m.

Vendors welcome; set up at Melvern City Park. A food court will be available at the park.
