Bessie Grace Dobler, 93, Osage City: Aug. 10, 1928 – Oct. 17, 2021

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Bessie Grace Dobler, 93, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at the Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, Kan. Bessie Grace Neilson was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Osage City, the daughter of Claude and Bessie (Vaughn) Neilson.

She graduated from Williamsburg High School, Williamsburg, Kan., in 1946. She worked in Kansas City and moved to Arizona, where she met Lloyd Dobler. They were joined in marriage April 15, 1952, in Prescott, Ariz. They moved backed to Kansas in 1969, and she helped operate Dobler Surveying.

Grace was an artist and attended the KC Art Institute in the late 1940s; in 1982, she earned a degree in fine arts from Emporia State University.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Mike) Rodee, Wichita, Kan.; son, Neil (Beth) Dobler, Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Claudine McArthur, Williamsburg, and Donna Foltz, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, on June 11, 2015; and a brother, Bill Neilson.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the First Presbyterian Church, 202 S. Sixth St., Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Osage City Cemetery.
