Roy David Moore, 70, Carbondale: Dec. 27, 1950 – Dec. 18, 2021

CARBONDALE, Kan. – Roy David Moore, 70, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at his home in Carbondale, Kan. He was born Dec. 27, 1950, the son of Kenneth and Faye (Coffman) Moore, in Topeka, Kan. His adoptive parents were Frank and June Branson.

Roy had lived most of his life in the Carbondale community. He worked as an automotive mechanic for many years. He served on the Carbondale Fire Department for 53 years, the fire department board for 32 years, and was fire chief for 24 years. He was also a member of the 1st Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen Muzzleloading Gun Club for 21 years.

On June 18, 1983, Roy David was united in marriage to Susan Asbury, in Carbondale. To this union two wonderful daughters were born, Elizabeth and Sondra.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Faye; his adopted parents, Frank and June; and brother, Jack Branson.

Roy is survived by his wife, Susan, of 38 years; two daughters, Elizabeth (Nick) Haase, Wichita, Kan., and Sondra Moore, Carbondale; two brothers, Jim (Patti) Branson and Dick (Darlene) Branson, all of Carbondale; and four grandchildren, Felicity, Beckett, Scarlett and Elody Haase, of Wichita.

Graveside memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Carbondale Cemetery. The family requests that dress code for the service is jeans and flannel. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Carbondale Fire Department or the 1st Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451. Condolences can be left at feltnerfuneralhome.com.
