OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Carolyn E. Fager, 84, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at Osage Nursing Manor, Osage City, Kan. Carolyn Elizabeth Havenstein was born June 27, 1937, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Swenson) Havenstein.
She graduated from Osage City High School in 1955.
She was joined in marriage to Alden R. Fager, Sept. 25, 1955, in Osage City. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2013.
Carolyn helped her husband with bookkeeping and accounting for Fager Plumbing and Heating. She was also a very talented seamstress, and sewed many beautiful pieces over the years for family and friends. She enjoyed knitting and made dozens of baby blankets, sweaters, and her family’s much loved Christmas stockings. Carolyn was also a wonderful cook and baker, teaching many of her skills and sharing her recipes.
She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osage City, and was a member of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of American (WELCA).
Carolyn will be forever remembered by her sister, Janet Seyfert, Buckner, Mo.; daughter, Ruth Fager, Osage City; two sons, Martin (Tammyra) Fager and Daniel (Laurie) Fager, all of Osage City; four grandchildren, Lauren (Logan) Jerore, Lexie Fager (Dylan Robert), Lucas Fager and Lane Fager, all of Osage City; and two great-grandchildren. She was Aunt Carolyn to several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ronald Havenstein.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osage City. Interment will be at Rapp Cemetery, west of Osage City.
