Richard Roy Richardson, 88, Carbondale: Aug. 16, 1933 – Feb. 19, 2022

CARBONDALE, Kan. – Richard Roy Richardson, 88, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka, Kan. He was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Mosby, Mo., the only child of Roy and Martha (Beard) Richardson.

Richard had lived in Topeka, and then in Carbondale, Kan., for the last 40 years.

Richard served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 and served aboard the USS Harwood. He then worked as a Union Iron Worker for Local No. 10, in Topeka.

Richard was united in marriage to Brenda Biesemeyer, June 5, 1978, in Topeka, Kan. Brenda preceded Richard in death on Aug. 28, 2021.

Richard was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Martha.

Richard is survived by his five children, John Graham, of Fredericksburg, Va., Ronna Richardson, Pyatt, Ark., Kevin Richardson, Burlingame, Kan., Mark Jackson, Marion, Ohio, and George Richardson, Joplin, Missouri; and 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, Kan. Burial will be in the Carbondale Cemetery, Carbondale. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered by the US Navy.
