INDEPENDENCE, Kan. – Betty June Nance, 97, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Medicalodges, Independence, Kan. Betty was born Oct. 27, 1924, in rural Montgomery County, Kan., to Elwood and Ruth (McCorkle) Avery.

Betty grew up in the Montgomery County area, and attended schools at Jefferson, Kan.

On July 8, 1941, Betty married Paul Nance, in Webb City, Mo. The couple made their home in the Independence area. Paul preceded her in death on March 2, 2010.

Betty was a homemaker, and also worked at Electra Manufacturing for nine years. Betty loved sitting on the front porch at the house.

Survivors include four children, Jeanette Klofkorn, of Lyndon, Kan., Joyce Williams, Jenks, Okla., Tom Nance, Independence, and Bob Nance, Cherryvale, Kan.; and nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Bob Avery, Mary Ann Perkins, Lois Lawther, Louise LaForte, Hazel Antle, Charles Avery, Floyd Avery, Iva Broninberg, Judy Plumb, Larry Avery, and James and Ruth Regina.
