MICHIGAN VALLEY, Kan. – Thelma D. “Toni” Walburn, 94, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kan. She was born April 8, 1928, in Vassar, Kan., the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Walker) Adams.
Thelma grew up in the Michigan Valley community, and graduated from Michigan Valley High School in 1946. She had lived many years near Ottawa, Kan., and had been in Gardner, Kan., for the last three years.
Thelma had been a secretary for Pomona Schools until her retirement.
On April 19, 1947, Thelma was united in marriage to Ben J. Walburn, in Ottawa. To this union a daughter was born, Patricia Kay.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ben, on May 26, 2002; daughter, Patricia K. Matile, Dec. 22, 2008; parents, Frank and Ruby; and two sisters, Phyllis Fanning and Naomi Heidner.
Thelma is survived by her brother, Donald Adams, of Iowa; a loving granddaughter, Megan Matile, Olathe; and many nieces and nephews, with a special appreciation to Allen and Karen for their acts of kindness.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kan.
