Tom Woodmas, 92, Ottawa: May 18, 1930 – Sept. 25, 2022

OTTAWA, Kan. – Tom Woodmas, 92, a longtime resident of Lyndon, Kan., passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at the Rock Creek of Ottawa retirement home. Tom was born May 18, 1930, in Melvern, Kan., to Chester and Emma (McDonald) Woodmas.

He grew up on a farm in rural Osage County with his parents, brother Charles, and sister Frances. He loved farming, animals, building houses, and traveling, and had many talents. But most of all he loved his family and his God Jehovah. Tom was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1940, and loved talking to people about Jehovah and teaching people what the Bible says. He served as an elder in the congregation since 1951. He spent numerous hours lovingly serving the congregation for so many years.

On June 18, 1955, he married the love of his life, Joan Rosenberger (daughter of Milton Sr. and Sally Rosenberger) and together they served Jehovah for 67 years.

Tom was a good man, loving husband, loving father, and a good brother to many. There are so many things to say about this wonderful man that one page can not contain it.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester and Emma Woodmas; brother, Charles Woodmas and wife, Betty; and sister, Frances Lacey and husband, Martin.

Tom is survived by his wife, Joan Woodmas, of Ottawa; daughter, Jerry Harris and husband, Steven, Spring Hill, Kan.; grandson, Coleton Harris, Evan Mills, N.Y.; and four nephews and three nieces.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3139 K-68 Highway, Ottawa. Condolences can be left at www.feltnerfuneralhome.com.
