Ellsworth Floyd Good, 84, Scranton: Sept. 13, 1938 – Nov. 6, 2022

SCRANTON, Kan. – Ellsworth “Floyd” Good, 84, of Scranton, Kan., passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Herrick, S.D., the son of John Robert Good and Velma (Bell) Good.

The family moved to Fort Scott, Kan., where Floyd attended school and worked on the family farm.

On Nov. 19, 1959, Floyd was united in marriage to Dorothy “Carolyn” Geter, in Wichita, Kan. They shared more than 52 years of marriage before the death of Carolyn on Oct. 5, 2013. They lived in Burlingame, Kan., for 20 years prior to moving to Scranton in 2006.

Floyd was a heavy equipment operator, who owned and operated Good Excavating from 1975 to 1982, in Topeka, Kan. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101 Topeka since Nov. 1, 1957.

Floyd was a member of Grace Community Church, Overbrook, Kan. He enjoyed riding and training race horses. He enjoyed hunting, especially raccoons. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma Good; his wife, Carolyn Good; and a son, Michael Tad Good, who passed away in January 2021.

He is survived by a daughter, Tara Lynne Good, Wichita; a son, Troy Bryan Good and wife, Melissa, Baldwin City, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Deb Good, Topeka; three sisters, Marlene Burningham, Topeka, Delores White and husband, Jim, Wichita, and Carol Faye Good, of Texas; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Grace Community Church, 310 E. Eighth St., Overbrook. Graveside services and Inurnment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 914 215th St., Fort Scott.
