OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Marsha Anne Gomez, 79, of Osage City, Kan., passed away Jan. 13, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. Marsha was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Fairmont, Minn., to parents Charles and Mildred (Hames) Best.
Marsha spent her childhood in Minnesota, graduating from Richfield High School.
She was united in marriage to Michael Gomez, Dec. 17, 1967.
Marsha worked as a statistician for General Mills until having children; she then stepped back from working life to focus on her family. When the children became older, she began driving the Headstart bus and later instructed math courses at Dodge City Community College, Dodge City, Kan., where they lived. Marsha and Michael later relocated to Osage City to be near their children. Marsha was a member of the Altar Society at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Osage City, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Best; a brother, Richard Best; and an infant daughter, Margaret Gomez.
Her love lives on in the hearts of her husband of 55 years, Michael Gomez, of Osage City; two sons, Mark Gomez and Martin (Angela) Gomez, both of Topeka; brother, Patrick Best, Jordan, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Madison, Gavin, and Nathan Gomez.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 309 S. Sixth St., Osage City. Visitation will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the church, followed by Rosary. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Osage City.
