Marais des Cygnes Valley High School crowned seniors Madison Cormode and Joey Del Percio as 2023 MdCV High School Queen of Courts queen and king during last Friday’s basketball game. 2022 King Max Davis and Queen Katie Parker, and kindergarten attendants Izel Traver and Ryder Naber, assisted with the crowning ceremony during halftime of the boys game against Cair Paravel.
Freshman attendants were Gracen Stahl and Jayden McClintic. Gracen is the daughter of Adam and Danah Stahl. While in high school, Gracen has been involved in volleyball and basketball, and later this school year, she plans to participate in softball. In her free time, Gracen has played on travel softball teams for six years, Kansas Triple Threat Basketball for one year, and enjoys going out on the lake during the summer months. Fun fact, Gracen’s favorite color is light pink. Gracen was escorted by Jayden McClintic, the son of Rick McClintic and Jessica Welton. While in high school, Jayden has been involved in football, basketball, and FFA; later this school year, he plans to participate in baseball. In his free time, Jayden enjoys playing basketball, fishing, and competes in ski gun competitions. Fun fact, Jayden’s favorite color is red.
Sophomore attendants were Evie Stephens and Dallen Flatin. Evie is the daughter of Jason and Emily Stephens. While in high school, Evie has been involved in honor roll, scholar’s bowl, an active member in band, including the MdCV pep band, district band, and state band. In her free time, Evie enjoys reading, art, and listening to music. Fun fact, Evie’s favorite color is green. Evie is escorted by Dallen Flatin. Dallen is the son of Sam and Kristen Flatin and Ted and Marcia Hessong. While in high school, Dallen has been involved in football, basketball, and baseball. In his free time, Dallen enjoys working, hunting, and fishing with friends. Fun fact, Dallen’s favorite color is black.
Junior attendants were Olivia Lacey and Mason Rose. Olivia is the daughter of Matt and Amy Lacey. In high school, Olivia has been involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, StuCo, honor roll, class president, band, pep band, district band, state band, and scholar’s bowl. In her free time Olivia enjoys volunteering as a junior firefighter at OCFD No. 3, working as a kennel tech at South Shore Animal Hospital, and rock climbing. Fun fact: Olivia’s favorite color is sage green. Olivia was escorted by Mason Rose. Mason is the son of Dustin and Jessica Rose. In high school, Mason has been involved in football, basketball, and track. In his free time, Mason enjoys working at Wendy’s. Fun fact: Mason’s favorite color is blue.

Kyla is the daughter of Eric and Amber Vogeler. In high school, Kyla has been involved in volleyball, basketball, cheer, softball, StuCo, StuCo president, class president, honor roll, FFA, FFA sentinel, FCCLA, FCCLA photographer, and FCCLA president. In her free time, Kyla has enjoyed playing competitive softball for the past nine years. Fun fact: Kyla’s favorite color is purple. Kyla was escorted by Isaac Hockett, the son of Jenifer Mace and Jeremy Hockett. In high school, Isaac has been involved in baseball and scholar’s bowl. In his free time, Isaac enjoys hanging out with his friends. Fun fact: Isaac’s favorite color is red.

Madison is the daughter of William and Marie Cormode. In high school, Madison has been involved in volleyball, basketball, cheer, track, StuCo, FBLA, FCCLA, and National Honor Society. In her free time, Madison has danced for the past 13 years for Bri’s Dance Studio, in New Strawn. Fun fact: Madison’s favorite color is turmeric. Madison is escorted by Joey Del Percio, son of Jenny Markel. In high school, Joe has been involved in football, basketball, baseball, and FFA. In his free time, Joe enjoys hunting and playing video games. Fun fact: Joe’s favorite color is blue.
The Queen of Courts game ended in defeat for the MdCV boys with a score of 64-23; MdCV girls won their game against Cair Paravel 54-12.
