Fire crews respond to afternoon house fire at Overbrook

OVERBROOK, Kan. – The Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported that several pets died in an unoccupied house fire Tuesday afternoon near Overbrook.

The sheriff’s office said a 911 call came in at 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, reporting a house on fire at 15092 S. Shawnee Heights Road, just north of Overbrook.

Osage County Fire Districts No. 4 Overbrook-Michigan Valley and No. 1 Carbondale, Osage County Sheriff’s deputies, and Osage County EMS responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the house was reported to be fully involved. Additional mutual aid was requested from OCFD No. 5 Lyndon-Vassar and Shawnee Heights Fire District.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, but several dogs did not make it out.

Additional assistance was provided by the American Red Cross and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
