Multi-county pursuit ends on dead-end road in Anderson County

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Shawnee, Kan., man was arrested Thursday after a multi-county pursuit that began on Interstate 35 in Osage County and ended in Anderson County.

The sheriff’s office said that around 1:55 p.m. April 13, 2023, a K-9 unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop near milepost 163 on I-35 for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit began.

The pursuit traveled through rural areas of Coffey County and into Anderson County, where it ended when the suspect drove down a dead end road. The driver then eluded law enforcement on foot before being located.

The suspect, Terrence J. Wade, 42, of Shawnee, was arrested and transported to the Osage County Jail on suspicion of fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer by use of a deadly weapon, and interference with law enforcement. Wade was also the subject of a Jackson County, Mo., warrant, and a Shawnee County probation violation felony warrant.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the pursuit by Coffey County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Garnett Police Department, and Kansas Highway Patrol.
