Osage County Sheriff’s Office report:

At 3:37 p.m. June 6, 2023, an Osage County Sheriff’s K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop in the 12100 block of South Topeka Avenue, near Carbondale. During the stop, a K-9 was deployed, and illegal narcotics were located. The driver of the vehicle, Lana G. Carter, 60, of Lyndon, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement, and driving while license is suspended.

Overbrook Police Department report:

Around 8:40 p.m. June 10, 2023, an Overbrook police officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Seventh and Maple streets. The driver, Michael E. Heltzel, 19, of Shawnee, was discovered to have been involved in an earlier incident, and was taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and minor in possession of liquor. Heltzel was transported to the Osage County Jail without incident. The Overbrook Police Department was assisted by the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
