It’s summer and Osage City Parks and Recreation offers cool activities, recreation, and relaxation at the aquatic center. Swim lessons have been scheduled and the pool will be open for a free community swim on Fourth of July. OCPR also has set deadlines for signup for youth football camp and area football league play.

Free Swim 4th of July
July 4, 2023 – 1-5 p.m.

Red Cross Swim Lessons

Group swim lesson forms available online at www.osagecity.com, at the Osage City Facebook Page and Osage City Hall. Starting May 27, swim lesson forms will be available at Osage City Aquatic Center.

Group Lesson #2, July 3-13

• 10-10:45 a.m., Pre-School, Level 1, Level 4, Guard Start
• 11-11:45 a.m., Pre-School, Level 2, Level 3
• 12-12:30 p.m., Parent Tot (6 month-2 years), must be accompanied by an adult
• Cost, $25 per swimmer per session

Private Lessons

Session #3, July 17-21

• OCAC Staff will contact you about a time during the session selected. Other times may be available. Contact OCAC to signup.
• $40 per week, per swimmer (one week = five, 30-minute lessons)
• Pre-school sessions, pre-K swimmers must be age 3 by the first day of class, to be enrolled in the session.
• A minimum of 4 swimmers is needed for a class to make.
• Swim lessons are Monday-Thursday ONLY.
• Friday will be used as a make-up day (as needed).
• Lessons WILL NOT be held if the air temperature is below 70 degrees.

Osage City Aquatic Center

OCAC Pool Hours (2023): May 28-Aug. 13, Monday-Friday, 1-6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. Daily Admission: $3 (Age 4 and above); age 3 & below FREE; age 65 & over FREE.

• OCAC Swim Pass Booklets – Swim booklets can be purchased at Osage City Hall and OCAC. 50 Swim Card Booklet, $50

Water Aerobics

• Week of June 5 through the week of July 31
• $3 per class or one swim card

Youth Football Camp
1st-6th Grade

• Grade is based on the 2023-2024 school year.
• Aug. 1-3 – 1st and 2nd grade, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; 3rd-6th tackle players, 6:30-8 p.m.
• $15 per player
• Campers receive a T-shirt.

Signup deadline July 22

OCPR 3rd/4th Grade Tackle Football

• Players must be USD 420 3rd/4th grade students based on the 2023-24 school year.
• Team will play in an area league with Burlingame/MV, Ottawa, Garnett and Prairie View.
• League games rotate between the league towns on Saturdays, plus possible Wednesday night games, either home or away.
• League Season – September 9 – October 21
• Weekly practices dates and time determined by Head Coach Jordan Tice.
• OCPR provides helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, pants (integrated, all 7 pads sewn in), team jersey and mouthpiece (players can choose to use their own mouthpiece).
• Each player provides their own football cleats, and any additional padding or accessories.
• Player fee – $50 per player – Check payable to OCPR.
• Payment can be split into two; payment 1 ($25) due by August 7; payment 2 ($25) due by September 1.

Signup forms and payment can be delivered to Osage City Hall or to the OCPR Office (Corey).

OCPR 5th/6th Grade Tackle Football

• Players must be USD 420 5th/6th grade students based on the 2023-24 school year.
• Team plays in the Emporia Recreation Commission’s 5th/6th grade Football League.
• Weekly practice dates and time determined by Head Coach Mitch Foote.
• ERC League games played at the football fields north of Emporia High School.
• ERC SEASON – September 9-October 21
• OCPR provides helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, pants (integrated, all 7 pads sewn in), mouthpiece (if needed) and team jersey.
• Each player provides their own football cleats, and any additional padding or accessories.
• 5th/6th Grade players must provide a completed medical form, signed by a physician (no exceptions): Deadline August 21. Medical form is available at the player physical location.
• Player fee – $95 – Check Payable to OCPR.
• Payment can be split into two; payment ($47.50) due by August 7; payment 2 ($47.50) due by September 1.
