BURLINGAME, Kan. – Michael Wayne Parker, 69, of Burlingame, Kan., passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2023, at University of Kansas Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born July 12, 1954, the son of Earl Parker and Joan (Reed) Talbot, at home in Wilmington, Kan.
He grew up primarily in the Kansas City, Mo., area, also living in Wichita, Kan., for a short while. He graduated from Park Hill High School, Kansas City, Mo., with the class of 1972.
Michael wore many hats during his working life. He was an entrepreneur, mechanic, ASE certified HVAC repairman, and aircraft mechanic. He recently had run a Lazy M Trailer Park, Kansas City, Mo., until he moved to Burlingame in 2015. Once there he opened the Burlingame Café and operated it for more than a year.
In his retirement Michael enjoyed fishing and nature. He was also an avid collector of anything from marbles and pens to pocket knives. His mechanical skills were always part of his life as he loved working on cars. Putting them together and getting them going again was a favorite pastime of his.
On July 13, 1987, Michael was united in marriage to Bonnie Miller, in Kansas City, Mo. They shared more than 36 years of marriage.
Michael is survived by his wife, Bonnie Parker, of the home; mother, Joan Talbot, of Oklahoma; two brothers, William Parker (Pat), Kansas City, Mo., and Kevin Talbot (Tamara Wright), Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Karin Dwillis (Shawn), of Oklahoma; son, Brian Courson, Lawrence, Kan.; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Parker and a brother, David Parker.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Ramskill Chapel, Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, KS 66413.
