Update Oct. 9, 2023: The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver who was killed in a rollover accident Sunday near Melvern as Raul A. Reza-Lujan 36, of Hutchinson, Kan.

The sheriff’s office reported that the afternoon of Oct. 8, 2023, Reza-Lujan was driving a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup southbound in the 32400 block of South Shawnee Heights Road, when he lost control and the vehicle left the roadway to the west side and rolled. Reza-Lujan was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had not been wearing a seatbelt.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a driver died Sunday afternoon in a rollover accident on a rural road near Melvern, Kan.

The sheriff’s office said that a 911 call came in at 1:47 p.m. Oct. 8, 2023, reporting a rollover accident in the 32400 block of South Shawnee Heights Road, near Melvern. Upon arrival, responders discovered a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup that had been travelling southbound on Shawnee Heights Road when the driver lost control and left the roadway to the west, rolling the vehicle.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s name will be withheld until family notifications have been made.
