MELVERN, Kan. – Darrel Dean Seems, 87, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at Vintage Park Assisted Living, Osage City, Kan. He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Smith Center, Kan., the son of James and Ellen (Garbeau) Seems.

Darrel had grown up in Smith Center, and traveled while working construction. He had lived in Melvern, Kan., since 1970.

Darrel had worked on Melvern Dam and had been a heavy equipment operator and a member of Local No. 101 Operators Union.

On Dec. 23, 1956, Darrel was united in marriage to Norma Jean Gaudren, in Smith Center. To this union three sons and a daughter were born, Mike, Monty, Michele and Martin.

Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; son, Monty; and daughter, Michele.

Darrel is survived by two sons, Mike Seems, of LaQuinta, Calif., and Martin Seems, Lyndon, Kan.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Melvern Cemetery, Melvern.
