Susan ‘Susie’ Faye Bame, 73, Overbrook: Aug. 2, 1950 – March 5, 2024

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Susan “Susie” Faye Bame, 73, passed away March 5, 2024, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan. She was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Gordon, Neb., the daughter of Virgil and Trilby (Haddock) Allen.

Susie had lived in Nebraska and Idaho before the family moved to Circleville, Kan. They moved to Overbrook as Susie entered high school. She graduated from Overbrook High School in 1968. She had lived most of her life in the Overbrook community, and had lived in Burlingame, Kan., the last several years.

Susie worked as a CNA and CMA in nursing homes, and worked in medical records at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka, Kan., for several years. She was baptized in the Christian faith.

Susie was united in marriage to James Bame, June 21, 1968, in Carbondale, Kan. To this union two sons were born, Robert and Michael.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Trilby; and four siblings, Dorothy Timm, Virginia Wirzfeld, Gene Allen and Karen Jarrard.

Susie is survived by her husband, Jim, of more than 55 years of marriage; two sons, Robert (Connie) Bame, Topeka, and Michael (Melissa) Bame, Lyndon; brother, Glenn (Belinda) Allen, Mannford, Okla.; sister, Linda (Bob) Beightel, Holton, Kan.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Grace Community Church, 310 E. Eighth St., Overbrook. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Ridgeway Cemetery.
