Meet a local 4-Her: Paige Thielen, grand champ pie maker, livestock showman

Paige Thielen tends to her market steer at the Osage County Fair.

My name is Paige Thielen. I am a member of the Willing Workers 4-H Club. This was my fourth year in 4-H. I served as junior vice-president of my club.

I had a great year! My favorite project was cooking. I baked an apple pie that won grand champion. I bought two outfits for the buymanship project and received grand champion on my dress, and grand champion in the style review. My steer received fourth overall in the market class, and I was grand champion in pig showmanship.

For the first time I took my pig to the Kansas State Fair and learned a lot. I love 4-H and I am excited for next year.

My favorite part of being in 4-H is all of the opportunities. I have learned how to talk in front of a crowd, and proper etiquette. I have also learned how to be further from my family and not missing my family as much when away. I love 4-H and I am excited for next year.
