Meet a local 4-Her: Kevin Whitmer, learning leadership and ambassadorship

Kevin Whitmer with his grand champion ewe, Miss Lady, at the Overbrook Osage County Fair 2024.

I am Kevin Whitmer, a member of the Willing Workers 4-H Club. This is my eighth year in 4-H and my projects include market lambs, breeding ewes, poultry, foods, entomology, and leadership. I am the senior treasurer for our club and a 4-H ambassador for Osage County.

This is my third year in the sheep project, fourth year in poultry, sixth year in entomology, eighth year in foods, and third year in leadership.

My favorite project is showing my sheep. This year I received reserve grand champion breeding ewe and champion senior showmanship with Miss Lady and breed champion with King. My best memories this past year include time spent with friends at the county fairs and being a 4-H ambassador. As a 4-H ambassador we taught line dancing to other 4-Hers at the county fair, helped with award presentations during the livestock shows, and were part of a radio presentation promoting 4-H.
