The Lyndon High School Tigers football team tallied its fourth win of the season Sept. 27 at Council Grove, downing the Braves with a score of 62-32.
Tigers Head Coach Rod Stallbaumer said his team played well offensively, despite Council Grove pushing through the first score of the night.
“I thought that we played very well offensively,” Stallbaumer said. “I was pleased that after they scored first we didn’t panic and just executed and handled a little adversity well.”
“I thought that our offensive line executed very well and opened up some nice holes, and if you give Josh (Owens) an opening he is a very dangerous running back.”
Stallbaumer said the Tigers struggled again on kick-off coverage and will continue to work on that and making plays.
“I think our guys are starting to understand that we are going to get everyone’s best shot and that we will need to step up our level of focus and concentration,” he said.
Stallbaumer also praised the Tigers defense. “I thought that other than the one blown coverage, our defensive backs played extremely well. They deflected 8 of Council Grove’s 16 passes,” he said.
