The City of Osage City would like to thank the KDHE Waste Tire Grant Program for its contribution of $8,832.00, used to purchase eight picnic tables made of recycled tires. City employees Gary Thompson and Donnie Bailey assembled and placed the picnic tables.

Four picnic tables were placed at Santa Fe Park, in the city’s downtown district. Citizens can enjoy the tables during city events such as the annual Cruis’n and Cook’n Car Show, Osage City Fall Festival, and Christmas on Market Street put on by the City of Osage City Chamber of Commerce. Santa Fe Park is located just to the northwest of Santa Fe Depot, which is often rented by citizens for family events.

The remaining four picnic tables were placed at Jones Park near the new concession stand. These tables are used during the USD 420 high school boys and girls spring sports and the city’s summer and fall youth sports programs. The youth sports programs are organized by Corey Linton, City of Osage City Parks & Recreation Director.

The donation has allowed the city to help reduce waste while improving its parks.
