Lyndon shines with Christmas spirit

The Lyndon community is lighted with Christmas spirit after last Saturday’s tree lighting on the Osage County Courthouse lawn. The town’s holiday celebration continues at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, with the annual Lyndon Pride Christmas parade, which passes through downtown Lyndon.

The parade route goes from City Park on Topeka Avenue, to Sixth Street and then east to Lyndon High School.

All parade entries are invited, with cash prizes for first, second, and third place winners. Parade entry forms can be picked up at Lyndon Carnegie Library or Lyndon State Bank.

At the high school, the Lyndon Christmas Bazaar, sponsored by the Lyndon Endowment Association, will be set up in the gymnasium, showcasing numerous crafts and gift ideas. Following the Christmas parade, Santa will visit the bazaar to take photos with kids of all ages.

The bazaar will be open 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the high school, where the library will serve biscuits and gravy for freewill donations, and help children make Christmas ornaments.

The library is also inviting spectators to enjoy the parade from benches in front of the library; hot cocoa and cookies will be available.

Holiday cheer continues in Lyndon 4-8 p.m. Dec. 11, with many local merchants opening their doors for an evening of sipping and shopping, during Lyndon Pride’s “Sip and Shop” event.
