OCEM to host NWS weather spotter class at Lyndon

The National Weather Service Topeka is continuing to offer weather spotter classes in numerous locations across northeast Kansas to prepare for severe weather season. A storm spotter class has been scheduled in Lyndon at 7 p.m. April 2, 2025, at the Lyndon Community Center, 205 W. 10th St.

Spotters provide critical information during severe weather events that aid in warning operations at the National Weather Service. Anyone interested in helping out their community, or are simply interested in learning more about severe weather is invited to attend this class.

The classes usually last about 90 minutes, during which a NWS meteorologist will teach about thunderstorm development and structure, thunderstorm safety, and what, when, and how to report information.

The class at Lyndon is co-hosted by Osage County Emergency Management. For more information, contact Osage County Emergency Manager Lynn Atchison at 785-828-3323.

Another weather spotter show will be held at 7 p.m. April 8, at Mission Valley Schools, 12913 Mission Valley Road, Eskridge.
