Horton woman killed in rollover accident near Pomona Saturday

A Horton woman died and a 2-year-old boy was injured in a single-car accident Saturday near Pomona.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Rochelle Rae Roach, 37, of Horton, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer eastbound on state Highway 268, approximately 4.3 miles west of Pomona, at about 3:34 p.m. Oct. 5. The KHP report said that for an unknown reason, the vehicle first entered the ditch on the south side of the highway, Roach overcorrected and the vehicle skidded across both lanes, entered the north ditch, overturned approximately two times and came to rest on its top.

Roach died at the scene, but the only passenger, Bryson J. Roach, 2, Horton, had been injured and was transported to Stormont Vail Healthcare, Topeka, in unknown condition.

The highway patrol reported that Rochelle Roach was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but safety restraint usage for Bryson was unknown.
