Eldora M. Thompson, 84, Osage City: July 6, 1928 – Oct. 6, 2013

OSAGE CITY – Eldora M. Thompson, 84, Osage City, Kan., passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor, in Emporia.

Eldora was born July 6, 1928, in Admire, Kan., the daughter of Leroy Jasper and Alta Mae (Erikson) Wright.

She married Dwight O. Thompson on Sept. 1, 1947, at Osage City. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2000.

Eldora owned and operated the Osage IGA for 35 years before selling the business in 1985. She also owned and maintained rental houses and business building in Osage City.

She is survived by her niece, Linda Croucher, of Osage City, and her nephews, Roy Jenkins, Admire, Lewis Jenkins, Emporia, and Clifford Jenkins, Thomas Jenkins and Perry Thompson, all of Osage City.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct, 11, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, in Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Memorial contributions may be Osage County Community Foundation or American Legion Post 198 and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
