The Osage County Senior Spelling Bee Champion is Genny Durkin, of Osage City, who is also our first repeat champion. The senior spelling bee held Oct. 10 turned out to be a really neat event. Christena Hanson was the second-place winner in the bee, and Patricia Fredrickson won third place. Ten contestants competed.
The student panel of judges from Carbondale Attendance Center included Cassidy Baker, Kierra Lira, Brody Smith and Derek Stahel. They were accompanied by their teacher Nicole Procheska. And, they were truly a wonderful bunch of kids to work with.
Surprisingly, there are still seats available on the bus trip to LeRoy, Kan., Thursday, Oct. 24. Destinations include the Barbie & More Doll Museum, Luther’s Jerky USA, and Arnold’s Greenhouse, with lunch at the Pizza Parlor Restaurant. This is our first ever bus trip to LeRoy, and we are really hoping for a full bus. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 785-528-4906 or stop by the center 604 Market St., Osage City.
