MADISON, Kan. – David Joseph Gehring, 73, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at his home in Madison, Kan., with his wife, Patricia, by his side. He was born July 12, 1952, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Joseph and Anna Marie Beasterfeld Gehring.
David attended Osage City High School, Osage City, Kan., and graduated with the class of 1970.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Damron, Aug. 14, 1992, in Madison.
David was a grader operator for the Lyon County Road and Bridge Department for many years.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia, of their home in Madison; his mother, Ann Gehring; daughters, Stacy Walstrom, Katie Custer, Adrianne Gehring and Darcie Merwin; son, David J. Gehring Jr.; sisters, Annie Moore and JoAnn Payton; brothers, Matthew Gehring, Joey Gehring and Tim Gehring; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and a community of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gehring; sister, Judy Tufts; brother, Steve Gehring; and infant daughter, Chastity Gehring.
Cremation is planned with no services scheduled at this time.
