125th Street, 205th Street to be closed for bridge construction

Two more roads in Osage County are scheduled to be closed for bridge replacement projects in the next two weeks.

Osage County road and bridge supervisor Glen Tyson reported to county commissioners Monday that 125th Street between Fairlawn and Wanamaker roads will be closed beginning Oct. 28 to rebuild the concrete box bridge at that location.

The bridge is one of four to be built by Ebert Construction, which submitted the winning bid in June. The bridge is part of phase 3 of a $4.3 million bridge bond project planned by the commissioners.

Tyson notified Osage County News Tuesday about another bridge project that will close 205th Street near its intersection with Shawnee Heights Road on Nov. 4. The bridge is a Kansas Department of Transportation project, with 80 percent funded by the state and 20 percent by the county. It is not part of the county’s bridge bond project.

On Sept. 3, 133rd Street between Croco Road and Berryton Road was closed for replacement of the first bridge in the bond project. A new concrete slab bridge will be built at that location.

At least 13 bridges in the county are expected to be replaced as part of the bridge bond project.
