Osage City Parks and Recreation has scheduled a holiday art workshop, and has opened signup for youth basketball programs as follows:
Youth Basketball (4-year-old and kindergarten)
This is an instructional basketball program designed to teach basketball fundamentals, shooting, dribbling, passing, and good sportsmanship through team practice and game play.
- Kindergarten practice dates and location – Sundays – Jan. 12-Feb. 23 – 5-6 p.m. – OCES gym.
- Kindergarten basketball instructors – Kate and Lucas Boss.
- Players receive a team shirt and participation award.
- Cost is $20 per player.
- Kindergarten signup deadline – Jan. 6.
Youth Basketball (1st and 2nd grade)
1st and 2nd grade practice dates, time, and location – Mondays or Wednesdays – 6-7 p.m. or 7-8 p.m. Starting the week of Dec. 2 – OCES gym.
- Team games start the week of Jan. 13.
- Teams play 6 games – one game per week.
- Games are played on Monday or Wednesday nights, 6-7 p.m. or 7-8 p.m.
- Players receive a team shirt and participation award.
- Cost is $20 per player.
- 1st and 2nd grade sign up deadline Nov. 15.
- OCPR coach-player discount available and OCPR scholarship forms available.
- Both signup forms are available through OCES, at Osage City Hall or online at www.osagecity.com.
Holiday Art Workshop – Dec. 14.
Workshop instructor, Becky Weaver (USD 420 OCES art teacher).
- K-2nd grade (9-10:30 a.m.) and 3rd-8th grade (10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.)
- Location, OCES art room (Enter through the west doors by the OCES library.)
- Cost: $20 per person.
- Projects may include: Painting a Christmas inspired picture or decoration; creating an ornament for the tree; and making holiday cards to share with friends and family.
- All projects will be available to take when the child leaves the workshop.
- Reminder, art is messy, please dress accordingly.
- Signup forms will be sent through Osage City Elementary School, are available at Osage City Hall, and are online at www.osagecity.com.

OC Youth Wrestling Club
Youth wrestlers must have turned 4 by Aug. 31, 2013, and cannot turn 19 by Aug. 31, 2014.
- Practice location, OCPR Building, 517 South First St.
- Wrestling club head coach, Jamy Dumbar. This is Jamy’s 6th season as the OC youth wrestling club head coach.
- Practice dates and times: Novice practice – Tuesday/Thursday – 5-6 p.m. – Nov. 4-March 3. Advanced practice – Tuesday/Thursday – 6-7:30 p.m. – Nov. 4 – March 3.
- Wrestling gear: Head gear and a team singlet for each wrestler is provided for their tournament. Practice clothes: Wrestlers need to wear comfortable clothes, T-shirt/sweat shirt, shorts/sweats, and wrestling shoes/socked feet on the mat.
- Wrestling tournament schedule: The wrestling club participates in novice and open wrestling tournaments during January and February. Additional tournament information will be provided to the club by Jamy.
- Club wrestler and parent meeting: 6-7 p.m., Nov. 4, OC school cafeteria.
- The meeting will cover wrestlers signup, sportsmanship contract, and OC Wrestling Club bylaws.
- Program fee: Negotiable up to $50, this includes a wrestling club T-shirt and registration with USA Wrestling. All OC Wrestling Club wrestlers register with USA Wrestling and compete in the Kansas branch of USA Wrestling.

- Signup deadline – Nov. 4.
