Madelene Davis, 88, Osage City: Nov. 18, 1925 – Nov. 22, 2013

Madelene Davis, 88, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Vintage Park at Osage City.

She was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Roanoke, Va., the daughter of John and Minnie Cooper.

Madelene was married to Richard P. Davis on Jan. 19, 1946, in Carrollton, Ky. They moved to Osage City in 1951. She was a proud homemaker as well as working as a quality control inspector at the Hallmark Company, Osage City.When the plant closed she transferred to the Leavenworth plant and completed 29 years of service.

She will be remembered by three sons, Ron Davis, Emporia, Richard “Dick” Davis, Osage City, and Rodney Davis, Emporia; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Madelene was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Davis, on March 1, 1984.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; half-sister Arfie May Cooper, and brother Raymond Cooper.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. Burial will follow at the Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madelene Davis Memorial Fund to be designated later, and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel at 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
