OVERBROOK – R.E. “Bud” Phelps Jr., 85, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home west of Overbrook. He was born on Aug. 8, 1928, in Fredonia, Kan., the son of Robert and Marie McReynolds Phelps.

R.E. had lived in California for many years before returning to the Overbrook area in 1994.

He had served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He worked as a lead man for TRW and Northrup-Grumman in California from 1957 to 1990.

On July 11, 1954, R.E. was married to Peggy Scott, in Chanute, Kan.

R.E. is survived by his wife Peggy; two daughters, Cindy Rowe, Bishop, Calif., and Laurie Boaz, Lakewood, Calif.; brother, Donald Phelps, Lawrence; sister, Donna Raymond, San Diego, Calif; two granddaughters and two grandsons.

R.E. was cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date. Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon, is assisting the family.
