Tuesday morning 2-car crash on U.S. 56 sends 2 injured to hospital

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported it is investigating a collision that occurred Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, on U.S. Highway 56 near Four Corners.

A press release said the sheriff’s office responded to a two-vehicle collision at 7:33 a.m. Tuesday, at U.S. 56 and South Adams Road.

The release said two adults were transported to a Topeka-area hospital with injuries believed to be non life threatening. One individual refused medical treatment at the scene. The report did not identify the drivers or occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash.

The highway was closed intermittently as emergency crews worked and the scene was cleared. The highway was reopened at 12:35 p.m.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Osage County Fire Districts 1 and 4, Osage County EMS, Osage County Emergency Management, and Kansas Department of Transportation.
